My most frequently requested DIY tutorial is finally up! Whew. These embroidery hoop wall hangings are a super easy and inexpensive way to fill up any space in your home. They're so simple but make the biggest statement in any room of the house. My house guests always compliment them! Plus, the greenery is so easy to switch out, they can match any season!
DIY Embroidery Hoop Wall Hanging
You will need:
Embroidery Hoops (In the sewing section)
Greenery bunches
Floral Wire
Scissors
Twine
Hammer & nails
1. Gather your materials.
Price-wise, I buy the embroidery hoops at Michael's and the greenery at Hobby Lobby. When buying embroidery hoops, I recommend getting them in various sizes. Also, keep in mind the hoops can be taken apart by the screw on top so when you buy one hoop, you're actually buying two! How many you need will depend on the size of the space you're covering.
I buy the greenery from Hobby Lobby because they offer the largest selection and it's almost always on sale for 50% off. For this project, you'll get the most bang for your buck if you buy the bunches/bouquets of greenery vs. stems. The stems can be costly and they're not as flexible as the bunches. The flexibility of your greenery is important so it will neatly wrap around the hoop with wire. We'll be cutting up these bouquets so you won't need a ton. 2. Separate your embroidery hoops.
Simply unscrew the bolt at the top of the hoops and separate. The inside hoop should be slightly smaller than the outer.
3. Plan your design on the floor.
I cannot stress this one enough. Plan it on the floor! It's so much easier to move the hoops around on the floor than randomly slapping nails into the wall. Find a design that works best with your space and any other decor that's going up there with the hoops and make sure you like it before committing. Below are a few ideas I came up with if you're needing inspo on how to arrange them!
4. Attach the greenery to the hoop with the wire.
Cut off several stems from your greenery and lay them flat against the inside of the hoop. Wrap the floral wire multiple times around the base of the stem and hoop to secure them together. With a second set of stems, attach them to the hoop going in the opposite direction of the first set (so the two bases are touching). It should look like the letter V.
5. Align nails in the wall and hang the hoop using twine.
Cut off a piece of twine (longer than what you anticipate you'll need--it's easy to shorten, not add to) and tie it around the top of the hoop. Hold the twine against the wall where you want your hoop to lay. When you're happy with the placement, place your nail there and tie a double knot in the twine. Push the double not over the top of the nail to secure the hoop to the wall. Repeat these steps with every hoop!
6. Enjoy your Pinterest-worthy wall!
